Raiding Loot Rules

  • #1

    - Difficult to manage loot system removed.

    Remember our guiding principle, "Don't be a jerk."  Treat your guildmates like friends, not NPCs or competitors.

    Our rules for loot are trying to be simple.  Decisions should be guided by the following Loot Philosophy.

    * Loot will drop again.

    * We'd like to give everyone a shot at some loot.

    * We want to treat everyone as fairly as possible.

    The Rules:

    * Don't be a jerk.

    * All raids will be run on Master Looter.  The threshold for loot will be set to Epic.  Exceptions will be made for specfic items that are not epic but are required for legendary weapon quest lines.

    The Master Looter will track who won, for what spec, and collect all the disenchating results.

    Any blues/greens that drop will go to the person the game has awarded to loot the mob.   You can do with those as you like.

    * Each raid's loot is handled on a per-raid-dungeon basis.  As an example, Blackwing Descent is seperate from Throne of the Four Winds.  Wining loot in one raid instance does not keep you from wining loot in another.

    * We'll use /roll when the Master Looter calls for rolls by Spec.

    * Shards and epic crafting items such as orbs, essences, etc. will go to the Guild Bank to make it possible to do enchanting or crafting for guild and raid purposes.

    * BoE items that are not won on a need basis will go to the guild bank.

    * Crafting patterns will be rolled for if someone in the raid has the right skill and skill level for the pattern, otherwise they will go to the guild bank.

    Each dungeon:

    1. You may win 1 item for your main spec and secondary spec per dungeon (not night) until everyone in that main spec or secondary spec has won something  or unless no one else wants the item.  Teir gear counts as your 1 item/spec.

    2. Loot priority is as follows:

    Main Spec > Secondary Spec > Alt Character (Main/Secondary)  > Shard

    For now, BoE items will follow the same rules as BoP items since this is a new tier and everything is likely to be an upgrade. We'll revisit this later, when not everything in the tier is a direct upgrade.

    Main Spec rolls will be done first.   Then calls to roll for secondary spec.  If the item is still available, alts may roll, using the same Main/Secondary spec order.

    Exception: If we ask you to bring an Alt Totem to a raid, that character can roll at Main Spec, etc.   The idea here is to gear Mains before Alts. However, if we need you as your alt, you should not be penalized because raid comp needs outweighed your preferred character choice.

    If there's a place where these rules and guidelines don't help much, we'll discuss it as a guild.

    An example of a night's looting looks like this:

    First boss of the raid dies.

    * Master Looter looks at loot, links it all to the raid.

    * Master Looter calls for Main Spec rolls.

    * All interested use /roll.  (if no Main Spec interest, it'll go to Secondary Spec.  If no Secondary Spec interest, made available to Alts.)

    * Highest roll wins.

    You can win one piece of loot for your Main Spec and one piece of loot for your Secondary Spec per raid.  Once everyone that could use a piece has won something you can win again.

    Examples:

    Boss A dies.  Drops [Plate DPS Breastplate of Moderate Coolness]

    There are four Plate wearer's in the raid; DK Tank, 2 DK DPS, and 1 Paladin Healer.

    Situation 1:

    - Both DKs want this as an upgrade.

    - Master Looter calls for Main Spec Rolls.

    -  They roll, getting 74 and 28 respectively.   Item goes to the roller of the 74.

    Situation 2:

    - One DPS DK wants this as an upgrade, so do both the DK Tank and the Paladin Healer for their Secondary Specs.

    - Master Looter calls for Main Spec Rolls.

    - The DPS DK rolls on Main Spec and wins (since he's uncontested as Main Spec.)

    Situation 3:

    - Neither DPS DK wants this item, but the DK Tank and the Paladin Healer want it for their Secondary Specs.

    - Master Looter calls for Main Spec Rolls.

    - No rolls happen for Main Spec.

    - Master Looter calls for Secondary Spec.

    - DK Tank and Paladin Healer /roll, getting a 56 and 90 respectively.  The item goes to the roller of the 90.

    I hope this illustrates the workings clearly enough.

    just for clarification...when you say roll, do you mean roll determined by dkp, or random roll by eligible requesters?  im assuming highest eligible dkp holder, but wanted to verify.
